    USES

    Adjunctive treatment to rest, analgesics and physical therapy
    for muscle spasm.

    DOSAGE & USAGE INFORMATION

    How to take:
    Tablet -- Swallow with liquid.
    When to take:
    As needed, no more often than every 4 hours.
    If you forget a dose:
    Take as soon as you remember. Wait 4 hours for next dose.
    What drug does:
    Blocks body's pain messages to brain. Also causes sedation.

    Time lapse before drug works:
    60 minutes.
    Don't take with:
    Any other medicines, even over-the-counter drugs such as cough
    and cold medicines, nose drops, diet pills, laxatives or
    caffeine, without consulting your doctor.
    OVERDOSE
    SYMPTOMS:
    Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, severe weakness, breathing
    difficulty, sensation of paralysis.
    WHAT TO DO:
    Overdose unlikely to threaten life. Depending on severity of
    symptoms and amount taken, call doctor, poison-control center or
    hospital emergency room for instructions.

    POSSIBLE ADVERSE REACTIONS OR SIDE EFFECTS

    SYMPTOMS WHAT TO DO

    Life-threatening:
    Hives, rash, intense Seek emergency
    itching, faintness treatment immediately.
    soon after a dose
    (anaphylaxis); extreme
    weakness, transient
    paralysis, temporary
    loss of vision.
    Common:

  • Drowsiness, Continue. Call doctor dizziness. when convenient.
  • Orange or red-purple No action necessary. urine. Infrequent: Agitation, constipation Discontinue. Call or diarrhea, nausea, doctor right away. cramps, vomiting, headache, depression. Rare:
  • Bloody or tarry, Discontinue. Seek black stool. emergency treatment.
  • Rash or itch, Discontinue. Call sore throat, fever, doctor right away. jaundice, tiredness, weakness, bleeding in skin, hiccups.

    WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS

    Don't take if:
    You are allergic to any skeletal-muscle relaxant.

    Before you start, consult your doctor:

  • If you have had liver disease.
  • If you plan pregnancy within medication period.
  • If you are allergic to tartrazine dye. Pregnancy: Safety not proven. Avoid if possible. Infants & children: Don't give to infants or young children unless prescribed and monitored by your physician. Prolonged use: No age-related problems expected. Skin & sunlight: No age-related problems expected.

    Driving or hazardous activities:
    Don't drive or pilot aircraft until you learn how medicine
    affects you. Don't work around dangerous machinery. Don't climb
    ladders or work in high places. Danger increases if you
    drink alcohol or take medicine affecting alertness and reflexes,
    such as antihistamines, tranquilizers, sedatives, pain medicine,
    narcotics and mind-altering drugs.
    Discontinuing:
    Don't discontinue without doctor's advice until you complete
    prescribed dose, even though symptoms diminish or disappear.
    Others:
    Periodic liver-function tests recommended if you use this drug
    for a long time.

    Antidepressants Increased sedation.

    Antihistamines Increased sedation.

    Dronabinol Increased effect of dronabinol on
    central nervous system. Avoid
    combination.
    Ethinamate Dangerous increased effects of
    ethinamate. Avoid combining.
    Fluoxetine Increased depressant effects of
    both drugs.
    Guanfacine May increase depressant effects of
    either drug.
    Leucovorin High alcohol content of leucovorin
    may cause adverse effects.
    MAO inhibitors Increased effect of
    (see Drugs Glossary) both drugs.
    Methyprylon Increased sedative effect, perhaps
    to dangerous level. Avoid.
    Mind-altering drugs Increased sedation.
    Muscle relaxants Increased sedation.
