Uses
Reduces congestion of nose, sinuses, eustachian tubes and throat from allergies and infections.
Dosage & Usage Information
How to take:
Tablet--Swallow with liquid. You may chew or crush tablet.
Extended-release capsules--Swallow each dose whole.
Syrup--Take as directed on label.
Drops--Place directly on tongue and swallow.
When to take:
At the same times each day.
To prevent insomnia, take last dose of day a few hours before
bedtime.
If you forget a dose:
Take up to 2 hours late. If more than 2
hours, wait for next dose (don't double this dose).
What drug does:
Decreases blood volume in nasal tissues, shrinking tissues and
enlarging airways.
Time lapse before drug works:
15 to 20 minutes.
Don't take with:
Non-prescription drugs with caffeine without consulting
doctor.
Any other medicine without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdose
SYMPTOMS:
Nervousness, restlessness, headache, rapid or
irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, vomiting, anxiety,
confusion, delirium, muscle tremors, convulsions,
hallucinations.
WHAT TO DO:
- Dial 911 (emergency) or O (operator) for an ambulance or
medical help. Then give first aid immediately.

Possible Adverse Reactions or Side Effects
Life-threatening:

Common:
Infrequent:
- Nausea or vomiting,
irregular or slow
heartbeat, difficult
breathing, unusually
fast or pounding
heartbeat, painful or
difficult urination,
increased sweating,
trembling.
- Dizziness, headache,
shakiness, weakness.
- Paleness.
Rare:
Hallucinations,
seizures.
Warnings & Precautions
Don't take if:
You are allergic to any sympathomimetic drug.
Before you start, consult your doctor:
- If you have overactive thyroid or diabetes.
- If you have taken any MAO inhibitors in past 2 weeks.
- If you take digitalis preparations or have high blood pressure
or heart disease.
- If you will have surgery within 2 months, including dental
surgery, requiring general or spinal anesthesia.
- If you have urination difficulty.
Over age 60:
Adverse reactions and side effects may be more frequent and
severe than in younger persons.
Pregnancy:
No proven harm to unborn child. Avoid if possible. Consult doctor.
Breast-feeding:
Drug passes into milk. Avoid drug or discontinue nursing until
you finish medicine. Consult doctor for advice on maintaining
milk supply.
Infants & children:
Keep dose low or avoid.
Prolonged use:
No proven problems.
Skin & sunlight:
No problems expected.
Driving, piloting or hazardous work:
Avoid if you feel dizzy. Otherwise, no problems expected..
Discontinuing:
May be unnecessary to finish medicine. Follow doctor's
instructions.
Others:
No problems expected.
