Uses
Relieves congestion of nose, sinuses and throat from allergies and
infections.
Dosage & Usage Information
How to take:
Nasal solution, nasal spray--Use as directed on label. Avoid
contamination. Don't use same container for more than 1 person.
When to take:
When needed, no more often than every 4 hours.
If you forget a dose:
Take as soon as you remember. Wait 4 hours for next dose.
What drug does:
Constricts walls of small arteries in nose, sinuses and eustachian
tubes.
Time lapse before drug works:
5 to 30 minutes.
Don't take with:
Non-prescription drugs for allergy, cough or cold without consulting
doctor.
Any other medicine without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdose
SYMPTOMS:
Headache, sweating, anxiety, agitation, rapid and irregular heartbeat
(rare occurrence with systemic absorption).
WHAT TO DO:
- Dial 911 (emergency) or 0 (operator) for an ambulance or medical
help. Then give first aid immediately.
- If patient is unconscious and not breathing, give mouth-to-mouth
breathing. If there is no heartbeat, use cardiac massage and
mouth-to-mouth breathing (CPR). If you can't get help quickly, take
patient to nearest emergency facility.

Possible Adverse Reactions or Side Effects
Life-threatening:

Infrequent:
Burning, dry or
stinging nasal
passages.
Rare:
Rebound congestion
(increased runny or
stuffy nose); headache,
insomnia, nervousness
(may occur with systemic
absorption).
Warnings & Precautions
Don't take if:
You are allergic to any sympathomimetic nasal spray.
Before you start, consult your doctor:
- If you have heart disease or high blood pressure.
- If you have diabetes.
- If you have overactive thyroid.
- If you have taken MAO inhibitors in past 2 weeks.
- If you have glaucoma.
Over age 60:
Adverse reactions and side effects may be more frequent and severe
than in younger persons.
Pregnancy:
No proven harm to unborn child. Avoid if possible. Consult doctor.
Breast-feeding:
No proven problems. Consult doctor.
Infants & children:
Don't give to children younger than 2.
Prolonged use:
Drug may lose effectiveness, cause increased congestion (rebound
effect*) and irritate nasal membranes.
Skin & sunlight:
No problems expected.
Driving, piloting or hazardous work:
No problems expected.
Discontinuing:
May be unnecessary to finish medicine. Follow doctor's instructions.
Others:
No problems expected.
